The White House announced on the 22nd local time that US President Trump signed an order officially designating the US left-wing radical group Antifa (ANTIFA) as a domestic terrorist organization. This follows Trump’s pledge to take action against left-wing groups following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
ANTIFA is not a unified organization, but rather a loose network of left-wing and anarchist groups that primarily oppose white supremacist and far-right activities. In recent years, its members have been active in protests across the country, sparking divisions between supporters and critics. Trump has previously named ANTIFA and called for its designation as a terrorist organization, but US law only allows for the designation of foreign organizations as terrorist organizations.
