
The US president received a grand welcome, smiling and waving his arms to the rhythm of a traditional dance troupe. He then departed Kuala Lumpur airport for the city center in his armored Cadillac vehicle, nicknamed “The Beast,” accompanied by the Malaysian Prime Minister.
According to Agence France-Presse, a small group of protesters gathered in downtown Kuala Lumpur to protest Trump’s visit, some holding signs reading “Get Out of Trump.”
Trump also used his Asian trip to stop in Qatar on Saturday, meeting with the country’s emir and prime minister to discuss the Gaza ceasefire agreement that took effect two weeks ago. The ceasefire remains fragile: Israel launched an airstrike on Saturday in the central Gaza Strip, allegedly targeting a member of Islamic Jihad.
