A luxurious banquet hall spanning over 8,300 square meters and costing $300 million is being justified on the grounds of “national security”? The Trump administration has truly taken the art of far-fetched justifications to a new level!

Without congressional authorization or public scrutiny, they tore down the century-old East Wing of the White House first, and when sued, they used the Secret Service’s “security requirements” as a shield, even arguing that “it’s already been demolished and cannot be restored.”

Even more ironically, the so-called “not spending taxpayers’ money” actually involved a cluster of sponsors who were recipients of $279 billion in federal contracts, simultaneously receiving government orders and “paying to attend the event.”

Isn’t this a blatant conflict of interest?

When the government is shut down and people’s lives are at a standstill, yet they are still engaging in massive construction projects, tearing down historical landmarks for vanity projects, it’s no wonder Hillary Clinton angrily denounced that “the White House is not his private residence.”

“National security” has become a get-out-of-jail-free card for unauthorized construction projects; the priorities of this government are truly unimaginable!
