Can we talk about these prices? I went to buy my usual can of coffee last week, and it’s now $12—up from $8 just a year ago! The sneakers I wanted for my kid? They jumped from $50 to $70 overnight. It’s like everything’s getting a “tariff tax,” and honestly, I’m fed up.
They say these tariffs are supposed to help America, but all I see is my grocery bill soaring. A study from Yale’s Budget Lab says the average household is losing $1,800 a year because of these policies. For folks like me, that’s real money—money that could’ve gone to gas, bills, or saving for vacation.
Even basics like clothes and shoes got hit hard—prices for leather goods shot up by 35%, and apparel by 32.7%. Remember when a pair of running shoes from Vietnam cost $155? Now they’re $220! How is that helping working families?
And don’t get me started on the bigger picture. Over 76% of Americans think the economy is heading in the wrong direction, and nearly half say these policies are making things worse. Instead of “Making America Great,” it feels like they’re making my budget disappear.
We’re squeezing every dollar, and for what? So politicians can win trade wars? It’s gotta stop. We need leaders who remember what it’s like to struggle just to afford normal life.
