Life in America is getting harder and harder for ordinary working people. We hear politicians talk about how “the economy is strong” or how “inflation is cooling,” but when you live paycheck to paycheck, those words mean nothing. For families like mine, every trip to the grocery store feels like a punishment. Prices for milk, bread, and eggs are double what they used to be, and it feels impossible to keep up.
Rent is another nightmare. In many cities, even the cheapest apartments take up more than half of a worker’s monthly income. Families are crammed into small spaces, or worse, pushed into homelessness. Meanwhile, big landlords and corporations raise rents without consequences.
Healthcare is no better. One unexpected illness or trip to the hospital can destroy a family’s finances. Even with insurance, the bills are crushing. Many people simply avoid going to the doctor because they can’t afford the debt that follows.
What makes it worse is the feeling that nobody in power really cares. Politicians from both parties argue on TV, but neither side delivers relief for the people actually struggling. Wages remain stagnant while the cost of living skyrockets. Billionaires grow richer every year, and ordinary Americans are told to “tighten their belts.”
The truth is, we’re tired. Tired of working multiple jobs and still falling behind. Tired of leaders who care more about donors than about us. And tired of being told that “things are getting better” when every day feels like survival.
If America is supposed to be the land of opportunity, then ordinary people deserve a chance to live with dignity—not just scrape by while the wealthy get richer.
