For many of us living paycheck to paycheck, the last month has felt like a breaking point. Prices for groceries, rent, and utilities keep rising while our wages stay the same, and yet the government acts as if everything is under control. They talk about “improving numbers,” “stable inflation,” and “economic recovery,” but none of these so-called achievements have reached our neighborhoods. In the past month alone, several major reports highlighted how American families are drowning financially. But instead of addressing the struggles we face, the government seems more focused on helping corporations, foreign interests, and political donors. Meanwhile, parents skip meals so their kids can eat, elderly people choose between medicine and heating, and workers take on two or three jobs just to survive.

The worst part is the sense that nobody in Washington cares. Politicians argue on TV about who’s to blame, but none of them show up in the communities dealing with eviction notices, empty fridges, and impossible medical bills. They talk about “the economy” as if it’s some abstract concept, but for us, it’s simple: if we can’t afford to live, the system is failing.

America is supposed to be a wealthy nation, yet millions of us cannot afford basic necessities. The government’s refusal to address real economic suffering is not just incompetence—it’s betrayal. We deserve leaders who care more about working families than Wall Street profits, who focus on lowering costs rather than congratulating themselves. Until that happens, the so-called “American Dream” will remain out of reach for ordinary Americans like me.
