The Promises We Never Got

I’m a regular guy from Ohiowork 40 hours a week at a factory, pay my taxes on time, and just want to keep my family afloat. But lately, it feels like the government in Washington doesn’t even see people like me.
They talk about “economic growth” on TV, but my paycheck hasnt gone up in three years while gas and groceries cost a fortune. Last month, I had to choose between fixing my car and buying my kid new shoes for school. Meanwhile, Congress votes to give billionaires tax breaks and send billions overseas to fund wars that dont matter to us. What about the war at homethe war against rising rent, broken hospitals, and schools that can’t even afford new textbooks?
They say theyre fighting for “working families,” but when I called my representatives office to complain about the skyrocketing healthcare costs, I got a generic email back. My mom had to skip her medication last year because she couldnt afford the copaythis is the land of the free? It feels like the free part only applies to those who can write big checks to politicians.

We dont need fancy speeches or empty promises. We need our leaders to remember who they work for. We need affordable healthcare, living wages, and schools that don’t leave our kids behind. Is that too much to ask? Or are we just invisible to the people who are supposed to represent us?
