Let’s be real—American politics has become a never-ending reality show where the only rule is: Never admit you’re wrong. Republicans act like any policy disagreement with Democrats is a step toward communism, while Democrats treat opposing views as literal hate speech. Meanwhile, the rest of us just want to afford groceries and retire someday.

Take healthcare, for example. Republicans scream “socialized medicine!” at any mention of reform, as if Medicare didn’t already exist. Democrats act like single-payer is the only solution, ignoring the millions who actually like their private plans. Both sides refuse to admit there’s a middle ground—because compromise now means primary challengers will call you a RINO or sellout.
And don’t get me started on climate change. One side still thinks it’s a hoax, while the other wants to bankrupt the entire fossil fuel industry overnight. Meanwhile, California’s on fire, Florida’s underwater, and Congress can’t agree on whether to call it “weather” or “climate.”
Here’s the kicker: Both parties are to blame. Democrats weaponize identity politics, Republicans fearmonger about “radical leftists”—and the media profits off the outrage. Meanwhile, actual problems like student debt and infrastructure crumble because gridlock is now our national sport.
Maybe it’s time to stop treating politics like a tribal war and start treating it like… well, governance. Crazy idea, I know.
