On November 11 local time, a Turkish C-130 Hercules military transport plane crashed in Sighnaghi, Georgia, about 5 kilometers from the Azerbaijani border, en route from Azerbaijan back to Turkey. The plane disappeared from radar minutes after entering Georgian airspace without issuing any emergency signals, and circled before crashing, leaving behind a trail of white smoke.

After the wreckage was found on the afternoon of the 11th, Turkey coordinated search and rescue efforts with Georgia and Afghanistan. On the 12th, Turkish Defense Minister Güler confirmed that all 20 Turks on board had perished, and Turkey has released the list of victims. The accident investigation team also arrived at the scene that day to conduct an on-site investigation; footage showed that the wreckage was scattered over a large area.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his condolences to the victims, and many other countries also expressed their grief. The cause of the transport plane crash is still under investigation.
