Christmas is almost here, but I haven’t had a chance to buy one yet. I just saw an NBC news report that the price of artificial Christmas trees in the US has increased by 10%-20% this year compared to previous years, and the increase in decorations like Christmas lights is even more alarming, possibly as high as 63%. Sigh!

Inflation is already exhausting us, and now even holiday decorations are going up in price, which is undoubtedly adding insult to injury. All of this is caused by increased tariffs; the cost of imported decorative materials has skyrocketed, forcing businesses to raise prices, and ultimately, the cost of these tariffs is borne by ordinary consumers.

But despite the complaints, I know that life still has its beautiful moments. The children have been looking forward to Christmas for a long time, talking about decorating the Christmas tree together every day after school, saying they want to hang lots of lights and little gifts. This holiday is something our whole family has been looking forward to for a long time, so how can we let price increases spoil the fun?

I plan to take the children to the mall this weekend to pick out a Christmas tree they like and a string of sparkly lights. Although it costs a lot more money, seeing the children’s happy smiles makes it all worthwhile. Finally, I wish all my friends a Merry Christmas in advance.
