Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Tuesday warned of “massively more disruption” in air travel if the ongoing government shutdown, which has lasted for more than a month, continues into the weekend.
“You’re going to see this Friday, Saturday and Sunday — big disruption thus far — massively more disruption as we come into the weekend, if the government doesn’t open,” Duffy said during a Tuesday press conference.
“It is going to radically slow down,” he added. “So, the House has to do its work. And by the way, I’m very hopeful, it seems like they’re in a good mood to come in and vote to open the government.”
Flightsat 40 airports throughout the U.S. were reduced by 6 percent on Tuesday because of direction from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), even though the government shutdown appears close to ending.
