ObamaCare Premiums Double: Where Do U.S. Health Insurance Buyers Go From Here?

We’re shopping for 2026 ObamaCare health insurance plans and facing average monthly premiums more than doubling.

Many may delay enrollment, hoping for last-minute exemptions or simply opting out.

Under the Affordable Care Act signed by President Obama in 2010, enrollment for health plans begins this Saturday. Research firm KFF indicates premiums for enrollees will rise by an average of approximately 114%.

My cousin Austin Jeha relies on insurance to cover specialty treatments for his ulcerative colitis. Jeha’s monthly premium will jump from $215 to $436.

Jehar regularly requires specialist care, paying an $85 copay each visit. He faces a higher risk of developing colon cancer, so doctors recommend regular check-ups to monitor his condition.

We need frequent appointments, so this remains a significant expense long-term. If Congress fails to extend these tax credits, over 4 million Americans will lose their health insurance.
