• Impeachment: President Trump told House Republicans at a party retreat that they must retain control of the chamber in the midterm elections, saying he expected to face a third impeachment if Democrats retake the majority. “They’ll find a reason to impeach me,” Mr. Trump said. “I’ll get impeached.” He warned about the history of midterms going against the party that holds the White House and said trumpeting his administration’s policies was a “road map to victory.”

  • Jan. 6 anniversary: Mr. Trump, on the fifth anniversary of the riot at the Capitol that led to his second impeachment, again cast doubt on the integrity of American elections. A rioter who said she had rejected Mr. Trump’s blanket grant of clemency instead sought forgiveness at a Capitol event, while some of the nearly 1,600 others who accepted it staged a march. The administration also made a brazen bid to rewrite the history of the riot.

  • Immigration crackdown: The Homeland Security Department has escalated its immigration enforcement in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region, primarily targeting undocumented Somali immigrants. Somalis living in the United States have been the focus of increasingly inflammatory rhetoric from Mr. Trump.
